Sierra Burton, LMFT

MA, LMFT #50154

  • I am passionate about therapy because therapy saved me, changed me, challenged me, grew me and helped me become who I am today. In college I worked towards a law degree, then vet medicine, but something continued to draw me back to psychology and helping people. In my opinion and personal experience, therapy works. I have seen couples, families and individuals come through some amazing journeys. My approach is very interactive while providing a non-judgmental place for free expression of thoughts and feelings.

I am currently owner and director for Sierra Therapy Center in beautiful Nevada County. I also serve on CAMFT Legislative Committee and I LOVE to supervise new associates and graduate students! Prior to this, I was the Clinical Director for a residential children's program. I left this position knowing that my true purpose was to work every day with my clients. We are a growing therapy center aimed at improving personal lives and family dynamics.

I was born and raised in Grass Valley (graduate of our local Nevada Union), I completed my undergraduate degree in psychology at California State University of Sacramento and earned my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) from Chapman University.

When I'm not working with my clients, I enjoy spending time with my family of 5 - cooking, gardening, ballet, meditation, and best of all - being a wife and mom.

"We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy.  Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know." - Carl Rogers

Linamarie Sojka

BA, Graduate Student, Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee

Supervised By: Dena L Hall, MA, LMFT #49464

  • Linamarie is a therapist in training who works from a recovery oriented perspective that emphasizes hope, empowerment, and each person’s ability to build a meaningful life. Her approach integrates Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and attachment theory to support secure relationships, Internal Family Systems (IFS) to foster self compassion, and Jungian archetypal perspectives to explore deeper patterns of meaning and growth. She is also trained in Brainspotting, a trauma focused method that uses eye position and body awareness to help process difficult experiences.

Influenced by David Richo’s work on mindful love and the Five A’s, she values presence, acceptance, and emotional attunement in the healing process. Her work is further informed by polyvagal theory, emphasizing nervous system regulation and a felt sense of safety. Linamarie is currently continuing toward her doctorate with a concentration in neuroscience, with a focus on integrating brain science, relational healing, and somatic awareness in her clinical work.

Tali Kassutto

BA, Graduate Student, Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee

Supervised By: Dena L Hall, MA, LMFT #49464

  • My practice is rooted in mindfulness-based somatic psychotherapy, parts work, Brainspotting, expressive arts therapy, and informed by both transpersonal and systems-based perspectives. I approach healing as an organic unfolding, less a problem to be solved than a living process to be entered with curiosity and trust in the intelligence that already lives within you.

Growth rarely moves in straight lines. It expands and contracts. It brings clarity, then confusion. There are times when life feels aligned, and times when something no longer fits but the next step isn’t yet clear. I honor the courage it takes to stay present in those in-between spaces.

With a background in education and years of experience working within diverse communities, I offer a grounded and compassionate presence. Together, we listen for what may be asking for attention beneath the surface. Rather than seeing the patterns and protections that surface as problems to be solved, we approach them as meaningful parts of your story, shaped by experience and worthy of understanding.

I hold therapy as a relational space where insight arises naturally and healing emerges from the heart of your experience. As we attune to the living currents within and around you, a quiet sense of integration begins to unfold, inviting a gentle return to the wisdom of your body, the depth of your relationships, your creativity, and the larger mystery that moves through us all. Together, we follow the thread of your experience with curiosity and trust, allowing your path to unfold in its own surprising and fully alive way.

  • I believe therapy is a collaborative journey that empowers people to heal, grow, and reconnect with what really matters. I am passionate about this work because I know firsthand that change is possible. I’ve navigated my own challenges, setbacks, and “plot twists,” and I understand how much courage it takes to begin this process. My goal is to create a space that feels safe, nonjudgmental, and maybe even a bit lighter than what life has been serving lately. Growth is serious work, but it doesn’t mean we can’t laugh along the way.

I am completing my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy at Touro University Worldwide and training as an MFT trainee at Sierra Therapy Center. My own healing journey has strengthened my empathy and commitment to meeting clients exactly where they are. I integrate approaches backed by research while tailoring treatment to the unique needs of individuals, couples, and families — because no two humans are the same (even identical twins will tell you that).

Before entering the counseling field, I worked in writing, coaching, and leadership roles that taught me the power of connection and resilience. Outside the therapy room, I love traveling, being outdoors, making music, and working on cars. I’m honored to walk alongside clients as they build hope, confidence, and the life they truly desire.

  • I consider therapy to be a place to find and explore your truth. Therapy is a place to grow your inner strength, build new skills, learn to set boundaries, and to find and assert your voice to move through the challenges life has presented. This is a journey we take together.  I will provide guidance through a client-centered and strength-based approach to meet you where you are on your path. I will utilize a cognitive behavior approach and evidence-based practices to increase insight and build mastery to empower you to independently implement your skills and develop natural support systems

I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, completing my degree at Brandman University in 2015. For the past 9 years I've provided support to youth and their families who are in residential care with an intensive therapeutic environment.  This has provided an opportunity to support their personal growth to manage symptoms related to trauma, struggle with Anger Management, Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar, ADHD, DMDD, ODD, and Parent-Child Relationship Problems.  I enjoy working with married or divorced parents to assist then in learning to communicate with each other in order to parent a child with healthy boundaries and consistency. I understand how to assist in functioning within the home, school, and community environment. I have familiarity and insight into working with systems of care related to CPS, Probation, IEP's, and Managed Care.

I look forward to taking this journey with you, triumphing through the valleys and celebrating at the peaks.

She is passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges with curiosity, compassion, and practical tools for growth.

Before pursuing a career in mental health, Jacquelyn worked for many years in the medical field, where she gained a deep appreciation for the human capacity to adapt and heal, both physically and emotionally. Over time, she found herself drawn to the emotional side of healing and inspired by the profound impact therapy can have on people’s lives. Witnessing those around her transform through support and self-understanding led her to realize that life doesn’t have to feel like a constant struggle, and that meaningful change is possible at any stage.

Jacquelyn’s clinical approach focuses on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS), allowing her to meet clients where they are while helping them explore the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. She believes that our internal world is made up of many parts, each carrying its own story and intention, and that listening to those parts with compassion can lead to greater self-awareness and balance. By identifying the values that guide each person’s life, Jacquelyn helps clients create clarity around their goals and take steps toward living in alignment with what matters most to them.

Grounded in warmth and authenticity, Jacquelyn strives to create a space where clients feel genuinely seen and supported. She approaches therapy as a collaborative process, one that honors each individual’s strengths, resilience, and capacity for growth.

Her sessions often weave in mindfulness, emotional regulation, and self-compassion practices, encouraging clients to develop a deeper understanding of themselves and the patterns that shape their relationships.

Jacquelyn works with a wide range of clients and is passionate about supporting those navigating anxiety, life transitions, relationship stress, and trauma-related experiences. Her medical background informs her sensitivity to the mind-body connection and the impact of stress and trauma on overall wellbeing. She values the opportunity to work alongside clients as they reconnect with their sense of purpose and rediscover hope, meaning, and direction in their lives.

Outside the therapy room, Jacquelyn enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, and connecting with friends and family. She brings that same sense of curiosity and presence to her work with clients, believing that therapy is not only about healing pain, but also about creating space for growth, creativity, and joy.
